You ever finally build up the courage to share your work with someone you admire? Not for clout. Not to ride their wave. Just because their voice means something to you. You respect their grind. Their growth. Their journey.

So you craft a message with care. Something like:

“Hey I hope all is well! I’d love to send you a copy of URBANGRIND Magazine. If you have a PO Box or office I can send it to, let me know.Sidebar • not for nothing, I really value your opinion. I’m new to this level I just reached, and I’d love honest feedback from someone I look up to.”

You hit send.

And what do you get?

A heart emoji.No words.No address.No response.Just vibes... and sleep mode.

It hurts. Let’s not lie. You put your mission on the table. You extended yourself in a world where most people are just trying to be seen. And in return you got nothing back.

But let me say this loud and clear for the people in the back:

Not everyone you admire is obligated to pour into you. And not everyone who doesn’t… is hating.

Some folks don’t have the capacity. Some don’t see you yet. And some are just too far removed from the ground you're building on.

But you know who does care?You.The people you’re impacting.The souls being shifted by your work.The next person watching you and saying, “Yo, they inspire me.”

So what do we do when the people we look up to leave us on read?

We don’t cry about it.We don’t spin our wheels proving we’re worth a response.We go from sleep mode to beast mode.

We double down.We sharpen the vision.We become that voice for someone else the one that does respond, that does show up, that doesn’t gatekeep their wisdom.

Grind City was never about begging for acceptance. It’s about creating a world where the overlooked become the overbooked. Where the silent dreamers become loud legends.

So yeah, they might’ve left me on sleep mode.But now? I’m wide awake.
